The Children’s Museum of the East End is always on the lookout for dynamic and engaging volunteers! An essential part of the Museum’s team, volunteers help serve the tens of thousands of children and families who visit and participate in educational programming every year. Whether you’re 16 or 70, we invite you to email info@cmee.org and apply for one of the opportunities below:

The role of a Volunteer Event Assistant at the Children’s Museum of the East End is to provide aide to the Museum’s Education Coordinator and other full-time museum staff during a community event. Volunteer Event Assistants complete tasks such as:

  • Assisting with the set up for an event.
  • Greeting visitors at the Museum entrance.
  • Keeping record of the number of visitors attending an event.
  • Assisting during an activity.
  • Assisting with the break down after an event.

Hours of work depend on schedule of particular event

The role of a Floor Volunteer at the Children’s Museum of the East End is to ensure that children are having playful and productive play while organizing/maintaining the Museum’s exhibits. The Floor Volunteer is responsible for:

  • Organizing the Museum’s Exhibits, Classrooms, and Play Space.
  • Interacting with patron’s in a friendly manor
  • Preparing tools and supplies for specific activities.

Typically, a Floor Volunteer can join the Team on all day Saturdays and Sundays or after school until 5:00pm.

The role of a Maintenance Volunteer at the Children’s Museum of the East End is to assist the Maintenance Associate in his efforts to keep the Museum’s exhibits and grounds safe. The Maintenance Volunteer is responsible for:

  • Minor indoor and outdoor repairs.
  • Inventorying tools and supplies.
  • Preparing tool and supplies for events and activities.

Typically, a Maintenance Volunteer can join the Team Thursday through Sunday anytime between 10:00am to 4:00pm.

The role of a Volunteer Program Assistant at the Children’s Museum of the East End is to provide aide to Museum’s Education Coordinator and other educational staff during an educational program. Volunteer Program Assistants complete tasks such as:

  • Assisting in the set up for a program
  • Assisting during a program (science, art, cooking, etc.)
  • Assisting with the break down after a program

Hours of work depend on schedule of particular programs.

The role of a Volunteer Storyteller at the Children’s Museum of the East End is to provide interactive storytelling experiences to families visiting the museum. The Storyteller is responsible for:

  • Preparing the Library Exhibit for Story Time.
  • Assisting the Museum’s Education Coordinator in the selection of age appropriate children’s literature for Story Time.
  • Rehearsing the story to be told.
  • Presenting an interactive read aloud in the Library Exhibit.

Typically, Story Time is held every Saturday and/or Sunday at 1 p.m.
