Music Together by the Dunes
9:30 & 10:30am

The Joy of Family Music – Join us in this popular Early childhood Music and Movement program for children newborn through age 5 and their Parents or Caregivers. Singing, dancing, rhythmic chants, instrument play and movement are explored in a fun, educational environment. Songbook, CD’s, newsletters and parent guide w/DVD are included with tuition.

Music Together is a research based program that taps into the child’s innate musical ability, leading them through primary music development to basic music competence. Basic music competence is having the ability to sing a song in tune and keep a steady beat.

In a non-competitive, non-performance environment, caregivers, regardless of music ability, nurture the child through 45 minutes of music play. The classes encourage the child’s natural enthusiasm, giving them a positive attitude toward music and movement which creates a solid foundation for future formal music and dance training.

Lego Club
10am

Join us every Saturday from 10am-12 noon for Lego Club at CMEE! Your child can construct works of art using the thousands of Legos at The Museum. To help CMEE continue to build this program, we are looking for Lego donations! Please call 631-537-8250 to donate!

Sunday, February 26
Waffle Day
10am

CMEE will be bringing the fantastical sights of the bigtop to you on the last Sunday of every month! Children will mix and add the batter, wait a few minutes, and watch Belgian waffles come out in amazing circus shapes. Fun for kids, delicious for everyone!

“Sima at Sea” Storytelling Workshop
10am

Sima at Sea Storyteller invites your child’s imagination to come as the guest of honor for storytime at CMEE at 10am for a reading of Frogs and Friends. Sima at Sea is brought to us by Cultural Care Au Pair.

Baby Bliss at CMEE

When you live in the East End year round, you’re often asked “what do you do during the winter?” Activities for new parents this winter have grown exponentially thanks to Michelle Kelly’s Baby Bliss classes at CMEE. In addition to meeting every Tuesday at CMEE to share tips on childrearing, Michelle has organized exercise and swimming classes, photo-op sessions, and CPR training – all for new parents and their babies. Weathering the Storm together

Last month during the first snowstorm of the winter, Visitor Services Assistant, Doug Borge opened CMEE to an intrepid group of excited patrons. After shoveling the walkways, Doug was anxious to have Henry the Rabbit get some exercise. Since Henry never experienced snow before, Doug brought him outside where Henry began to nibble on a snowdrift, thinking it was food. Instead of satisfying his appetite, Henry began to sneeze and then charged back onto Doug’s lap for safety and protection. Best friends for life!

Valentine’s Day Cards for Senior Citizens

Once again, CMEE would love to deliver smiles to local senior citizens on Valentine’s Day. Last year, over 100 cards were made by children to CMEE and were delivered to East End seniors on Valentine’s Day. This year, we would love to double that number! Please stop by our Valentine Station located in the museum’s lobby until Saturday, February 10 and create a few masterpieces that will be delivered to local senior centers.

Monday: “I cannot tell a lie. It was I who chopped down the cherry tree.” CMEE has some fun with this apocryphal quote attributed to George Washington by baking cherry pies in honor of our first President’s birthday.

Tuesday: Warm your spirits and enjoy the gift of giving with this perfect Snowman Gift Bag. (Individually filled with fresh air-popped popcorn!)

Wednesday: Bake some healthy and delicious oatmeal raisin cookies and enjoy them with a glass of icy cold milk!

Thursday: Absorbable Art. This unusual art-and-science activity uses salt, glue, and food coloring to create colorful 3-D drawings.

Friday: Send a few simple ingredients for a wild ride in our blenders and children will have delicious, nutritious, smoothies in no time!
